Logan Water partnered with Cedar Grove Landcare for the development of the award winning Cedar Grove Environmental Centre. President Rachel Hughes was an important contributor to the Community Reference Group for this project and helped to create the site’s masterplan with Logan Water. The masterplan will see 95% of the site used for environmental and community purposes, and 5% for hard infrastructure. The centre is home to the Cedar Grove Landcare Nursery which provides training opportunities for local people and produces native plants for Council and community land restoration projects. It also features Queensland’s first wastewater treatment plant to benefit the environment through membrane bioreactor technology and constructed wetlands to achieve record low nutrient levels, and offsetting remaining nutrients through catchment restoration. Logan Water appreciates the important contribution that Cedar Grove Landcare has made to our project, and the local environment and community.
